Getting There

Last night as I prepared for bed, I established a definate agenda for the morning when I woke up.  Get up, have some quiet time, go to the gym and head for my first real day in the new office.  Simple enough, yes?  Yes, except Marc had one of his weird spider dreams . . . again.  This time it looked like him yelling expletives, turning on the lights and throwing the covers back looking for invisible spiders at around 2:30 this morning.  Were it not so freaky to be jarred awake by the man you love in such a startling and disorienting way it would be funny . . . however, as it stands, it’s only funny in retrospect.   Which brings me to another point, as we lay in bed after our harrowing event we laughed, and laughed, and laughed, and laughed and had a difficult time going back to sleep for the intermittent fits of giggling.

So, yeah, my morning that was all planned out and entirely, hopelessly contingent upon a good night’s sleep proved difficult to achieve.  But I achieved it nonetheless.  Yes, it was harder to get up and get going than it would have been minus those menacing and imaginary spiders that seem to plague my poor hubby (and me too consequently), but I did it.  And yes, it would have been easier to stay asleep than to get up and pray for the Lord’s direction for the day, but I did it.  And, man, the gym felt all the more challenging to get to than it would have if I were well rested.  But, I got to it.  I did it.

The way we take, the goals we set, the ambitions we dream will not be without real, identifiable obstacles as we set out on our journeys toward them.  There will be people, things, thoughts, fears and spiders that set themselves between you and your destination.  But there is also a God who has set Himself up as your way, your truth and your life, so you can trust Him with your direction, with your beliefs and with your very be”ing”.  Our work is to simply do what He’s asked us to, be who He’s asked us to be, and go where He’s asked us to go . . . no matter the obstacles, however real or imaginary, along the way.

Proverbs 4:25
Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.

That said, I’m at the office now, checking out the new digs (which desperately need a woman’s touch), and getting settled in so . . . I gotta run.  I’ve got work to do.

Peace and Blessings,

Nicole Walters
