This weekend my girlfriends and I had our “getaway.”  At least three times a year three of my closest friends and I kiss our families good-bye and head for one night in a hotel room to be friends, be girls, be real, and be refreshed.  It usually looks like having dinner Friday evening, returning to the hotel to swim, sauna, Jacuzzi and talk late into the night, and rising early on Saturday to walk, talk (some more), pray and challenge.  The event is never without tears, disclosure, confrontation, transparency, hurt feelings, reconciliation, encouragement and revival.

As uncomfortable and emotional as some of our discussions have been – this weekend was no exception – I am forever grateful for the true friends I have in my life.  I have women who will tell me the truth (sometimes in love, which makes it less painful) and who do this for me because they love me and want to see God’s best manifested in me and my family.   friends.jpg

I guess I’m writing this to encourage you to nurture, esteem and grow the friendships you have in your life.  Make a phone call, write a letter or send an email or a text message.  Remind them, those women who have stood beside you to keep you from falling down, of how important they are to you, and how much you love them. Let them know that you see their devotion and appreciate it, assure them that they have yours too.  Prioritize your loved ones over the other stupid stuff that can serve as such a distraction.  In the end, you have to wonder how much else will matter anyway.

A friend hears the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Monica, Missy and Laura, I love you and may our God continue to wow you in all He does on your behalf.

Peace and Blessings,
