Use Me Lord!

Let me begin by saying I’m deeply grateful for My Goodness Magazine.  I feel I am being used by God to grow the good in a wonderful way.  So thank you very much for allowing me to be with you in this very personal way.

By any chance did anyone catch Oprah yesterday?  The show was titled “Cheers To You” and she celebrated people who were doing wonderful things in their communities and families.  I was moved by several of the stories, but one in particular just lifted my heart.  I can’t remember her name, but this woman had always wanted to be a doctor since she was a child.  But when she was 16 she got pregnant, she married, and had four more children.  She still wanted to attend college but her husband said it wouldn’t be good for their family so she listened.  By the time her oldest was 16, the same age as she was when she gave birth, she decided to go back to school to become a nurse.  Soon her marriage ended and she was a single parent attending college.

Once she completed nursing school, her dream of being a doctor still called to her.  She applied to Yale Medical School and was accepted.  By then she was a grandmother.  In two weeks she will be the first grandmother to graduate from Yale’s Medical School. She remarried and her entire family was on Oprah cheering and acknowledging her.  Oprah also arranged to wipe her school loans clean.  $130,000.00, wiped clean.  Hallelujah! You know that’s moving, inspiring, uplifting, encouraging and all that good stuff.  nurse.JPG   For days I’d been praying and asking God, “How can you use me in my community?”  I don’t know if this prayer really has anything to do with the woman on Oprah, but I’m really interested in allowing my life time dreams to be a service to God and humanity on every level. When I think about it, I get all tingly and stuff.  I love that being of service to God doesn’t take us away from our dreams but it fulfills them.  Maybe God designed each one of us with a particular desire, a perfect dream for our lives, but it’s bigger than our lives – it’s for all of us.  So the woman dreamed of being a doctor because God designed her to be a healer.  And when the season was perfect, and the seed was ready, she blazed a trail of glory towards her purpose.  Due to her courage, obedience, fortitude and resilience, she is a light, a beacon for us all.  Today, I’m asking God to use me!  How can I be of greater service to Spirit and the Kingdom of God?  Someone once told me fulfilling my dreams will be easier than anything else.  So I’ll believe that the path towards my dreams has the most energy and support.  Why?  Because that’s where God wants me to be.  Look in your heart and discover where God wants you to be.  How does God want to use your life?  What have you been dreaming of since you were a child?  The answer is your freedom, your joy, and God’s good pleasure to give.  Oh I feel the fire of the Holy Spirit!  It’s getting hot in here!

 Proverbs 18:16
A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great.

Peace and Blessings,
