Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

I spent much of yesterday in prayer and meditation after receiving a clear directive from the Holy Spirit to be still.  For days I resisted this stillness for no apparent reason really.   But by the end of the day I was given a plan to practice success daily.  Now I feel focused and on purpose, and this feels great. I started the day early; waking at 6:30 am, feeding Zion, and then handing him off to his father.  I later headed out for a one-hour, brisk walk under the bright Los Angeles morning sun.

On my walk I prayed, breathed deep, and thanked God. It felt so good being about the business of loving me.  I feel wonderful because I am wonderful.  And yes, God created me this way.One thing I’m certain of after a day of prayer and meditation and a morning of God’s glorious beauty is that God has given me a vision for my life.  This vision includes joy, service, freedom, family, friends, community, love, creativity and, you guessed it, My Goodness.  There is a knowing within me, it is deep and eternal, it has never been born and will never die.  It is the ultimate prize and it is mine/ours to behold.

Keep your eyes, the eyes of your heart that light the path towards God’s vision for your life, on the prize.  Keep your eyes, the eyes of your soul that are connected to the all knowing, all powerful, and every where present goodness of God, on the prize.  Keep your eyes, the inner eyes of faith and truth which can transform the outer world into a glorious and beautiful place to be, on the prize.

keep-going.JPGIt is within our power to see our success or our failure according to our choosing.  If we see poverty then we are impoverished.  If we see illness then we are ill.  As believers and livers of Christ it is our duty to count it all good.  Why?  Because as a woman thinks so she is.  Likewise, if we see beauty and wholeness then we are beautiful and whole.  The prize is of our choosing and it is a reflection of our seeing.

Thank God, I’m inspired today.  As I look out, witnessing the kingdom of heaven and the glory of God, I give thanks for vision God has given me for my life and the eyes to see it. Live today with the intention to see God’s goodness in all things.  Even if the outward appearance looks grim, believe God is in the details and in a perfect season will reveal the prize.  Amen.

Peace and Blessings,

 Monique Ruffin-James
