Grow the Good!

Grow the good. It was a passing sentence really . . . but I just can’t seem to shake it. Neither can Monique . . . My Goodness Magazine’s co-creator. I, nearly absent-mindedly, included that statement in the email I sent out announcing our second publication of the magazine. Grow the good. Grow the good.
As I sit here, watching with mounting horror as the details unfold about the tragedy that happened at V-Tech today, the desperate need for the presence of goodness in the world is painfully apparent.
Grow the good.
Where is your plot? Of “land” I mean. Where do you plant, cultivate, prune, water and fertilize?
Is it home, within the lives of your children? Husband? Have you tended the soil tenderly? Faithfully? Have you kept the weeds of doubt, distrust, fear, hate and apathy from taking hold?
And what, as importantly, are you using for seed?
Words? Are they life giving, love affirming, and light bringing?
Actions? Are they selfless, Christ-like, and empowering?
Grow the good.
You can, you know. I can. We all can. Grow it. Plant it. Water it. Wherever you are. Wherever you go. In fact, you must. I must. We all must. Our lives depend on it. The lives of our children depend on it. Grow the good.
Start a movement. A private revolution. A public demonstration. Grow the good. Be good. Do good. Encourage good. Praise the good. Acknowledge the good. Seek the good. Desire the good. Grow the good.
Galatians 6:9, 10:
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
It begins here. It begins with you. It begins with us. Today. Now. Because if we don’t . . .
Just do it, okay? Grow the good . . .
Peace and Blessings,
Nicole Walters
